School Council
At Burpham we greatly value the opinions of our pupils and the School Council acts as a vehicle for delivering pupil voice which is used to impact decisions made in the running of the school. At the beginning of the Autumn term, prospective candidates complete a written application form to be considered for the role of school councillor for each class. They present their case to their peers and elections then take place with ballot slips and a polling station. The winning candidate is elected for the whole of the academic year. School Council meetings are held regularly in the staff room with Miss Booth and there is a notice board opposite the hall door with pictures of all the school councillors and information about the projects they are working on.

School Council Projects
Last year, School Council carried out a survey of packed lunches. They wanted to make sure that healthy eating is a priority in our school. They noticed that lots of children bring in salty and sweet snacks alongside their healthy lunch options. They asked their classmates if they had any ideas about how we can share the message of healthy eating and then shared their outcomes in an assembly.
School Council also worked with our catering company, Pabulum, to support them in running their 'Your Voice Matters' survey. School Council members supported children to share their opinions of their dining experience and fed back information to the team at Pabulum.
School Council also fed back on the children's survey that was shared last year. They were able to dig deeper into certain questions and held some very useful discussions with their classes which they then shared at School Council.
School Council also re-launched Suggestion Boxes in each class. As a result of the Suggestion Boxes, the teachers will start running lunch time clubs as well as after school clubs. Another suggestion that was left in the box asked for a dress up day for Key Stage 1 so the teachers incorporated that into their learning in the Summer Term.
