At Burpham Primary School we believe PE and Sports plays an important role in making our vision statement a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people's lives for the better. We welcome the Government announcements to provide additional funding to improve the provision of physical education and sport in Primary schools.

Swimming
The national curriculum requires Year 6 children to be able to swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
To support this, all children attend swimming lessons in Year 4 and any children in Years 5 and 6 who have not yet met end of key stage requirements are invited to attend booster sessions.
