News

In Geography this half term, we have focussed on the question 'What is Burpham like?' We have discussed and drawn the features we love about Burpham.  As part of our field work, we then created questionnaires for our friends, families and neighbours to find out more about everyone's opinions. We started to notice that many people found the roads quite busy and even spotted a letter in the newspaper where a local resident was concerned about how long it took him to safely cross the road. This lead us to conduct some research. We headed out into our local neighbourhood and completed a traffic survey. Burpham Lane turned out to be quite quiet on a Friday afternoon, but on Clay Lane there were so many cars, motorbikes, trucks and even the odd police car! We have now considered how we will stay safe on the road. Take a look at the photos below that show the fun we had on our traffic survey.

We have also just reached the end of our gymnastics unit. We have been learning how to make symmetrical and asymmetrical shapes and movements and working in a pair or group to create a sequence. We have included some photos in the gallery showing the culmination of our gymnastics topic.

In the event of school closure

On rare occasions, it may be necessary to close the school. This may be due to adverse weather conditions or perhaps when essential school services cannot be provided –e.g. heating, plumbing or water.

Please refer to the School’s Bad Weather Policy on our website for information regarding how we communicate a school closure.

Class teachers will then initiate home school learning activities, and these will be available to children by 10am of the same morning.
